Preventative Measures

Ensure your motor heater circuits are working properly in order to keep moisture away from motor windings.

Strip or space heaters provide effective heating of the interior spaces of electric motors and other machines. They are meant to provide a defense against the effects of water contamination or penetration on the electric coils and elements of the motor or electric insulation systems. When working properly operators are rewarded with the performance expected from their motors. However, since they are installed deep inside the motor...out of sign might mean... out of mind, their hidden utility may be forgotten, or overlooked.

When heaters aren't properly monitored or not energized at proper times, condensing moisture can lead to possible irreversible damage to motors interior components. Costly, unanticipated problems can result.

Modern Solution for an Ongoing Problem

The H-PD-2 Heater Power Detector is a simple solution. This simple DIN rail mountable device offers an early warning that motor heaters are non-operational. They are packaged in an ingress protection IP65 Enclosure with a translucent cover for easy viewing of status indicator lights.

Features and Intended Use

  • Monitoring of the alternating current electric heater circuits used in motors, generators, switch gear cabinets, lube-oil pre-heaters and other types of re-heaters.
  • Monitor other constant current circuits for activity.
  • Early notification of electric motor heater status.
  • One, two, or even eight or more separate electric heaters can be monitored in one large electric motor
  • 1 x signal output for remote monitoring

Benefits of Use

  • Early warning of electric space heaters improper function
  • Monitor motors if they trip off or have been forgotten for any length of time.
  • Easily seen green and red LEDs alert maintenance staff to motor status
  • Easily installed DIN rail system
  • IP65 Enclosure
  • Self powered-harvests energy from heater circuit for its operation
  • Split core CT for easy installation. No need to lift wires.
